Afro-Cuban Performance at Kwanzaa Celebration Sun. Dec. 29th!

 

ALL people are welcome to the WorldBeat Cultural Center's 

33rd annual Kwanzaa celebration!

Starting Dec. 26th - Dec. 30th, the WBC will host daily celebrations of Kwanzaa's principles. This year 5 of the 7 days of Kwanzaa will be featured.

Starting @ 6 PM

Celebrations include traditional African libations, drum call, cultural performances, poetry and a FREE vegetarian Soul food feast!

On Sunday, December 29th, 2013,

the celebration will also feature a special performance by Omo Ache Afro-Cuban Music & Dance Co. as well as an end-of-series performance by students of the Rumba, Son y Más Cuban percussion & dance class series.

  This is a family, community and cultural event for all to enjoy.  Come experience Kwanzaa with your community!

Afro-Cuban Dance Class on Saturdays!

 

This regularly scheduled class takes place every Saturday at Stage 7.  Come learn the African dance traditions that have been preserved in Cuba for more than 500 years.  This invigorating class is mixed level and is appropriate for all levels of dancers.  Taught by Master Artist Juan Carlos Blanco, former lead soloist for Raices Profundas (Deep Roots), a nationally acclaimed Cuban folkloric dance company in Havana, Cuba. Work your body and feed your spirit while accompanied by the best live drumming in San Diego!

 

This Saturday's class will be the last of our Yoruba series for 2013.  Don't miss a special Orisha dance class tomorrow.

La Rumba

Domingo de Rumba Cubana was Candela!  The Rumba was on fire and a great time was had by all!  Thank you to those who came and supported the Rumba.  This Rumba will continue to be held monthly and we look forward to seeing all who want to come enjoy, jam and catch good vibes again next month!  Let's keep the tradition alive.  If you couldn't make it this past Sunday, check out some of the fun we had.  Don't miss the next Domingo de Rumba in December (date tba)!
